this Club all about-?
The name of this club is Night Sky 45.
The name refers to our favorite subject to view and Salem's
location on the 45th parallel (latitude).
NS45 met for the first time in April 1999.
Night Sky 45 is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to
promoting the enjoyment and education of astronomy and related
subjects to members and the general public. Membership is open to
anybody interested in astronomy and the night sky, regardless of
experience or knowledge.
Ownership of a telescope is not a
requirement for membership.
Night Sky 45 was formed primarily as a viewing club, allowing
people who share an interest in astronomy and related topics to
join with others to share knowledge and observing experiences.

of the organization. The name refers to our preferred subject to
view and Salem's location on the 45th parallel.
Night Sky 45 is a non-profit, volunteer
organization dedicated to promoting the enjoyment and education
of astronomy and related subjects to members and the general
public. Membership is open to anybody interested in astronomy and
the night sky, regardless of experience or knowledge. Ownership
of a telescope is not a requirement for membership.

As a volunteer organization, Night Sky
45 is a non-commercial entity. Membership and/or services in
Night Sky 45 shall not be used to further commercial endeavors.
No commercial enterprise shall use the Night Sky 45 name or logo
in promotion of private enterprise.
One Night Sky 45 membership shall
include all family members living in the same residence. There
are two classes of membership: Associate and General. An
Associate member is an active dues paying member with full-rights
and privileges of club benefits and activities. A General member
is a non-dues paying member, but still retains full-rights and
privileges of club benefits and activities.
Associate members will pay a small
annual fee. This will give them membership in the Astronomical
League, a national organization, and all the rights and
privileges of that membership, including a subscription to the
quarterly newsletter The Reflector and the ability to
participate in recognized viewing programs. Associate membership
does not give the member any extra authority or standing in Night
Sky 45.
The membership year runs from January 1
through December 31. Associate member dues shall be renewed
yearly on the date of the January general meeting. New associate
members joining the club in the middle of the year shall be
charged the full year's dues if joining before October 1 of that year.
The dollar amount for annual dues will be reviewed by the
membership annually.
Night Sky 45 leadership consists of the
President, Club Reporter, ALCor (Astronomical League
Correspondent) and the Advisory Committee. Nominations for these
offices will be held at the January meeting and elections will be
held at the February meeting. Membership in the Advisory
Committee is open to all club members.
